Removing a screen creates a vacuum. If nothing equally compelling is ready to take its place, conflict is predictable. This is why replacement matters more than restriction alone.

Build predictable offline anchors into the week: Tuesday swim, Friday cooking, Sunday trail. A rhythm reduces negotiation because the family is not reinventing the plan every day.

Choose experiences that offer early wins. A child is more likely to return when the first session includes something they can finish, show, climb, perform, or explain.

Parents do not need to entertain children constantly. We do, however, need to make the offline world accessible: supplies within reach, plans that fit the week, and enough shared attention to help the new habit begin.
